Bootlace & wire ferrule crimpers · self-adjusting ratchet tools
Ferrule Crimping Tools
Two ratchet ferrule crimpers sized to the ferrules we sell loose and in kits. Also searched for as a wire ferrule crimper, bootlace ferrule crimper or ferrule crimping tool — a small-frame model for control wiring and a larger frame for the power side of the same panel.

Why the crimp profile matters
A ferrule crimping tool needs to match the ferrule barrel it is closing, not just the conductor size. A worn or mismatched die leaves strands loose inside the barrel or crushes the collar, and either fault can pass a visual check while failing under vibration or load.
Both tools on this page use a self-adjusting square, four-indent profile sized to the insulated, twin and non-insulated ferrules sold on this site. For strip length, tool setup and a finished-crimp inspection checklist, see the ferrule crimping guide; for a broader look at crimping tool types and standards, see what is a crimping tool. To check whether this profile suits your terminal, compare square and hex ferrule crimps.
Not first-party crimp-tested yet. One SN-06WF is on the bench for evaluation; a documented crimp-pull test across our HE sizes has not been completed or archived. The specifications below are the tool manufacturer’s own ratings, not an independent Termnex test result.
Choose a ferrule crimping tool
One small-frame tool, one large-frame tool. Pick the tool by the cross-section you actually crimp, not by price — a small-frame ratchet will not close correctly on a barrel it was not built for.
| Tool | Capacity | Crimp profile | Action | Typical fit |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| SN-06WF | 0.25 – 6 mm² (AWG 24 – 10) | Square, four-indent | Self-adjusting, ratchet release | Control wiring, the TNX-K1200 kit range |
| HX-35WF | 6 – 35 mm² (manufacturer capacity chart) | Square, four-indent (manufacturer spec) | Ratchet, larger frame | Power-side ferrules from 10 mm² up |
The TNX-K1200 wire ferrule kit already includes an SN-06WF, so anyone ordering that kit does not need to order the tool separately.
SN-06WF · small-frame ratchet ferrule crimper
A self-adjusting ratchet crimper covering the control-wiring range. This is the tool bundled with the TNX-K1200 kit, and the one currently on the bench for evaluation.
| Property | Value |
|---|---|
| Capacity | 0.25 – 6 mm² (AWG 24 – 10) |
| Crimp profile | Square, four-indent |
| Action | Self-adjusting, ratchet release |
| Fits ferrules | 0.5 – 6 mm² insulated, non-insulated and twin ferrules on this site |
| Packaging | Manufacturer’s original case; not swappable for a private-label case |
This is the same tool included with the TNX-K1200 ferrule kit; it can also be ordered on its own. It does not cover 10 mm² and larger — a 6 mm² ratchet frame will not close on those barrels, which is what the HX-35WF is for.
HX-35WF · large-frame ratchet ferrule crimper
The power-side companion to the SN-06WF, for ferrules from 10 mm² up to 35 mm². This tool is sourced to order from the same manufacturer as our HE/HTE/HEN ferrule ranges and is not yet on our own bench, so its specifications below are the manufacturer’s catalogue figures rather than a Termnex-verified test result.
| Property | Value |
|---|---|
| Capacity | 6 – 35 mm² |
| Crimp profile | Square, four-indent (manufacturer spec) |
| Action | Ratchet, larger frame than the SN-06WF |
| Fits ferrules | 10 – 16 mm² ferrules in the TNX-A100 kit; loose ferrules up to 35 mm² on the insulated and non-insulated pages |
| Availability | Made to order; confirmed with the quotation |
Choosing the right tool
- Match the tool to the largest ferrule you crimp regularly. If a panel mixes 1.5 mm² control wiring with 16 mm² feeders, the SN-06WF handles the small end and the HX-35WF handles the large end — one tool cannot do both correctly.
- A ratchet release is not optional past 6 mm². Larger barrels need more crimp force than a hand alone can apply consistently; the ratchet mechanism ensures the crimp is not released until it is fully closed.
- Check the finished crimp, not just the tool spec. The ferrule crimping guide covers strip length, insertion depth and what a correctly closed square crimp looks like.

FAQ
What is a ferrule crimper?
A ferrule crimper (also called a wire ferrule crimper or bootlace ferrule crimper) is a hand tool that closes a square, four-indent crimp around a wire ferrule barrel once the stripped conductor is inserted. Most ferrule crimpers above the smallest sizes use a ratchet mechanism so the jaws do not release until the crimp is fully formed.
What is the difference between the SN-06WF and the HX-35WF?
Frame size and capacity. The SN-06WF is a self-adjusting ratchet tool for 0.25 – 6 mm² ferrules — the control-wiring range. The HX-35WF is a larger-frame ratchet tool for 6 – 35 mm² ferrules, per the manufacturer’s own capacity chart. A 6 mm² tool will not close correctly on a 10 mm² or larger barrel.
Can I buy a crimping tool without ferrules?
Yes. Both tools can be ordered on their own. The SN-06WF is also sold bundled with ferrules in the TNX-K1200 kit.
Do you offer private-label packaging for the tools?
No. Unlike the ferrule kits, both crimping tools ship in the manufacturer’s original packaging, which cannot be swapped for a private-label case.
Have these tools been crimp-tested by Termnex?
An SN-06WF is on the bench for evaluation, but a documented crimp-pull test across our ferrule sizes has not yet been completed or archived, and the HX-35WF has not been sourced for testing. The specifications on this page are the manufacturer’s own ratings. See the ferrule crimping guide for how to check a finished crimp yourself.
Which tool do I need for the TNX-A100 or TNX-A400 ferrule kit?
TNX-A400 (0.5 – 2.5 mm²) and the small end of TNX-A100 are within SN-06WF capacity. The 10 and 16 mm² ferrules in TNX-A100 need the HX-35WF — the SN-06WF will not close on those barrels.
