Why buy a ferrule kit
A panel builder who buys loose ferrules buys them 1,000 to a bag, in one size. A ferrule assortment box exists for the jobs where that does not work:
- Mixed-gauge work. Control panels, machine retrofits and service calls move between cross-sections constantly, and stocking a full bag of each is the expensive way to cover that.
- First fix and commissioning. You need every size on the bench, not the one size that was ordered three weeks ago.
- Buying the tool once. A ferrule crimping tool kit puts the crimper and the consumables on one order line.
Every ferrule in these kits is the same part sold on our insulated wire ferrule, twin wire ferrule and non-insulated wire ferrule pages — electrolytic copper, tin plated, with a PA66 collar where insulated.
Small sizes and large sizes belong in separate boxes. The established European assortments are weighted heavily towards the small end — a widely sold 1,900-piece box carries 500 pieces at 0.5 mm² against 200 at 2.5 mm² — and the major brands publish 0.5 – 2.5 mm² and 4 – 16 mm² as separate references rather than one combined box. Put every size in one box and the large compartments are still full when the small ones are empty, which is why the assortments below are split at 2.5 mm², and why refills are sold by the size you actually run out of.
Choose a wire ferrule kit
Five boxed assortment kits plus one twin-ferrule pack family. The insulated and non-insulated references below are mixed-size boxes. TNX-T100 is different: it is a family of single-size twin-ferrule packs; a mixed twin assortment box is built to your specified ratio on request.
| Kit or pack family | Contents | Range | Crimp tool | Typical use |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| TNX-A400 | 400 insulated ferrules, 5 sizes | 0.5 – 2.5 mm² | No | Control wiring — the everyday box |
| TNX-A100 | 100 insulated ferrules, 4 sizes | 4 – 16 mm² | No | Power side of the same panel |
| TNX-K1200 | 1,200 insulated ferrules, 7 sizes, plus SN-06WF ratchet crimper | 0.5 – 6 mm² | Yes | Complete starter set, maintenance vehicles |
| TNX-T100 | Twin ferrules by single size — 100 per pack, 50 on 2 × 16 mm² | 2 × 0.5 – 2 × 16 mm² | No | Two conductors into one terminal |
| TNX-N500 | 500 non-insulated ferrules, 5 sizes | 0.5 – 2.5 mm² | No | Tight terminals, high ambient temperature |
| TNX-N350 | 350 non-insulated ferrules, 4 sizes | 4 – 16 mm² | No | Bare ferrules on the power side |
Colour references throughout follow DIN 46228-4. AWG values are catalogue and packaging labels rather than mathematical conversions — size the ferrule from the marked mm² cross-section of the conductor. Use the wire ferrule size and colour chart when matching conductor size, collar colour and pin length.
Insulated ferrule assortments
Two boxes, split at 2.5 mm². Order one or both. These are ferrule assortment boxes supplied without a tool — the format for anyone who already owns a crimper.
TNX-A400 · insulated ferrule assortment 0.5 – 2.5 mm²

400 pieces across the five control-wiring sizes, weighted towards the small end because that is the order in which a panel consumes them.

The tool covers the full 0.5 – 6 mm² contents of this kit. For 10 and 16 mm² ferrules from the TNX-A100 box, a larger frame such as the HX-35WF is required — a 6 mm² ratchet crimper will not close on them. The ferrule crimping guide covers tool profiles, setup and finished-crimp checks.
Twin ferrule packs
A twin ferrule takes two conductors into one barrel, so a single terminal accepts a pair of wires without doubling them into a hole they were never sized for. Mixed twin ferrule assortments are thinly represented in the European catalogues — one major distributor lists more than thirteen times as many single-entry assortments as twin ones — while twin ferrules themselves tend to be specified for particular circuits rather than across a whole panel. Both formats are available here: single-size packs as standard, mixed twin assortments built to a specified ratio on request.

Mixed twin assortments can be built to a specified ratio on request. Note that twin ferrules are wider across the collar than single ferrules of the same cross-section, so confirm the terminal opening before committing a panel design to them — see the twin wire ferrule page for full dimensions and when to use twin wire ferrules for terminal and circuit constraints.
Non-insulated ferrule assortments
Bare tinned copper barrels with no PA66 collar — a non-insulated ferrule assortment for recessed terminals, tight terminal spacing, or ambient temperatures above what nylon will take. Without a collar there is no colour coding, so the compartments and the labelling carry the identification.

The non-insulated range continues to 185 mm² in single sizes. Sizes above 35 mm² need a hydraulic or heavy mechanical crimper and are supplied loose rather than in an assortment. If collar clearance or identification is the deciding factor, compare insulated and non-insulated ferrules before choosing the box.
Refill packs and single-size top-ups
Kits run out unevenly. The 0.5 and 0.75 mm² compartments empty first, and replacing the whole box to restock two sizes is the expensive way to do it. Refills are therefore sold by the size:
- Single-size refill packs — 100, 500 or 1,000 pieces of one cross-section, colour and pin length.
- Ferrule-only refill of a full kit ratio — the TNX-K1200 contents without the crimping tool, for anyone who already bought the kit once.
- Factory packs — 1,000 pieces per bag on insulated sizes up to 6 mm², 500 on 10 and 16 mm², 2,000 on the small non-insulated sizes. Quote by the pack for volume.
State the part number, or the cross-section, colour and length, and the refill will be matched to the kit it came from.
Ordering
- Kits are assembled to order. Counts, size ranges and colour sets are all specifiable — the ratios published above are the standard build, not a limit.
- Private label. Box, insert card, labelling and part numbering can carry your own branding. The ferrules themselves are unbranded.
- Compartment boxes. Kits are supplied in a compartmented box with a size label per compartment. Box format is confirmed with the quotation.
- Certification. All ferrules are RoHS compliant and covered by a CE Declaration of Conformity, manufactured under ISO 9001. Selected insulated single models are UL Listed to UL 486F; the twin and non-insulated ranges are not. If a kit is going into a UL panel build, ask before specifying it.
- Mixed orders. Kits and loose factory packs can go on the same order and the same shipment.

FAQ
What is in a wire ferrule kit?
A counted assortment of ferrules across several cross-sections, in a compartmented box with a label per size. Some kits also include a crimping tool. The standard builds on this page run from a 100-piece box of 4 – 16 mm² ferrules up to a 1,200-piece kit covering 0.5 – 6 mm² with an SN-06WF ratchet crimper.
Which ferrule kit size should I choose?
Match the box to the wiring, not to the headline piece count. Control wiring lives at 0.5 – 2.5 mm², which is the TNX-A400. Power circuits in the same enclosure sit at 4 – 16 mm², which is the TNX-A100. If you need both, order both — that is cheaper per usable piece than one large box in which the big sizes never get used.
Do the kits include a crimping tool?
Only the TNX-K1200. The assortment boxes are supplied ferrules-only, because most panel builders already own a crimper and would rather not pay for a second one. The SN-06WF supplied in the kit is a self-adjusting square-profile ratchet tool covering 0.25 – 6 mm².
Are the ferrules DIN colour coded?
Yes. The insulated and twin kits follow DIN 46228-4: white 0.5, grey 0.75, red 1.0, black 1.5, blue 2.5, grey 4.0, yellow 6.0, red 10, blue 16 mm². Other colour standards, including the French code, can be supplied on request. Non-insulated ferrules have no collar and therefore no colour.
Are these kits UL listed?
Selected insulated single-entry models are UL Listed to UL 486F. The twin and non-insulated ranges are not, and no kit is certified as an assembly. Confirm the specific models with us before specifying a kit into a UL-listed panel build.
Can I order a custom ratio or a private label kit?
Yes to both. Send the sizes and counts you want and the kit is built to that ratio; box, insert card and labelling can carry your own branding and part numbers. The ferrules themselves are unbranded. Minimum kit quantity and any private-label packaging requirements are confirmed with the quotation.
Do you sell refills for a single size?
Yes — 100, 500 or 1,000 pieces of one cross-section, colour and pin length, or the full ferrule-only contents of a kit without the tool. Quote the part number or the size, colour and length and it will be matched to the kit.
What is the difference between a ferrule kit and an assortment box?
Nothing consistent. In UK and European catalogues, assortment box usually implies ferrules only, and kit usually implies a crimping tool is included, but the terms are used interchangeably. On this page the contents of each reference are listed in full so the distinction does not matter.
